Kay Sheppard's Hummus  

1 cup cooked garbanzo beans
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp roasted sesame oil
1 tsp minced garlic clove
Salt is optional
1 tsp fresh chopped parsley
1/4 tsp cumin or ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

Blend or process all ingredients until mixture is smooth. Add a small amount of water to facilitate blending if needed. Remove from blender with a spatula. Hummus is good served with fresh vegetable sticks.

Exchange system: count 2 Tbsp = 1/2 starch,   or 1/4 cup = 1 starch

Garbanzo beans are great sources of soluble fiber too which help lower LDL (loser) cholesterol
